The City of Edmonton will fine derelict homeowners $250 Thursday, June 26, 2014

The City of Edmonton has plans of cleaning up the derelict homes by issuing fines to homeowners.

Some of the properties in the target zone are owned by seniors who have no financial or physical resources to clean up their property.  Many have tried to obtain bank financing to maintain the fence or haul away the old tires in the yard. I may have a solution that would serve their needs and bring value back to their home.  A Canada Home Income Plan mortgage carries no monthly payments. The owners can live in the property until they wish to move and when they sell, they get all the remaining equity that they have built up.  By maintaining their property, the value stays much higher for a longer period and the house is a pleasant place to live.
